AI made competent-looking output abundant
AI has made structured, fluent output widely available. That changes what useful technical writing needs to contain beyond its surface form.

Fluency is now the baseline
Structure, grammar, summaries, examples, and a confident tone are available to everyone. Those things still matter, but they no longer prove that the writer has done the work.
The difference has moved toward documented judgment: the constraint discovered in production, the user behavior that broke the original assumption, and the edge case that only became visible after launch.
Production creates the useful details
An AI agent design looks clean until it meets an undocumented state. A CRM data model looks complete until human escalation loses the previous messages. An integration looks reliable until one platform changes a permission or sends an event twice.
These details are not glamorous, but they are evidence. They turn generic advice into something another builder can actually use.
Use AI for speed, not identity
AI is excellent for compressing research, testing an outline, finding a missing counterargument, or improving clarity. It should make the route to a useful idea shorter.
The part that still needs to be yours is the position: what you believe after seeing the system work, fail, and meet reality. Competent output is abundant. Experience, taste, and accountability are not.
